Google Tip: Wildcards

Searching is easy when you know—even generally—what you're looking for. But how about when the word you're seeking is right on the tip of your brain, but won't make itself known? Use wildcards!
Substitute an asterisk for exactly one word in a Google search—Pike's Peak is * feet high—and Google will attempt to fill in the blank.
Google can also handle number ranges when searching. Two periods indicate that you're looking for a number between two other numbers. For example, Pike's Peak trail 5000..10000 feet returns trails in the range of 5,000 to 10,000 feet. The number ranges work with currency as well—say, HDTV $500..$900.

Insert an image in filigree precisely

The filigree consists in posting a warning in the form of a text or an image in background of a document. That can be used to state for example that the document is confidential. The Filigree function of Word enables you to add filigree easily. However, this one is posted on all the pages. The manual method enables you to post precisely or an image makes in filigree some behind a single paragraph for example.

  1. Open your Word document then insert the image of your choice which you wish to use for the filigree.
  2. Double click then on this image. In limps of dialogue which appears, open the Text Wrapping tab.
  3. Select the option behind the text
  4. Open then the Image tab.
  5. Unroll the Align list then select the Filigree option.
  6. Click on Ok button. Your image passes in background of the paragraph and sees its colors attenuated like a filigree

More storage for Google e-mail

SAN FRANCISCO – Google Inc. is sprucing up its corporate e-mail service by adding new security tools and more than doubling the storage capacity.

The changes, to be unveiled today, mark Google’s first attempt to capitalize on the technology that it picked up in its recently completed $625 million acquisition of e-mail security specialist Postini Inc.

Google also is courting Postini’s existing customers as it tries to drum up more interest in a suite of online software applications that costs each user $50 annually. The roughly 36,000 businesses already using Postini products can get the software bundle, which includes word processing, spreadsheet and other programs besides e-mail, free through June 2008.

Storage capacity Google’s corporate e-mail will be boosted to 25 gigabytes, up from 10. Individual accounts with the company’s free service, known as “Gmail,” will remain just under three gigabytes.
